The 4-stroke engine was invented by Nikolaus Otto in 1861 and still bears his name (“Cycle Otto”).
Gottlieb Daimler adapted Otto’s invention to create a light petrol-powered engine and Rudolph Diesel modified it by feeding it into a diesel fuel, using less fuel to get the same energy. Since 1908, with the construction of the “Ford Model T” in America, the automotive industry has started the construction of large-scale motor vehicles. The first assembly line dates back to 1913.
